Always Have a Plan B…and never take it for granted that your Plan A will always work.

Standard

Yes…having a Plan B is a good thing…

Scratch that…having a Plan B is a great thing.

Made more the apparent just yesterday…

When I arrived to my house/dog sitting gig at my mom’s place I took it for granted and made a large assumption that she would have a specific cable channel available for me to do my ‘blogs’ for pro-wrestling. Last night I discovered that she did not have this channel…she thought she had it because it wasn’t made quite clear to her by the cable provider that she would not get this channel (plus another couple channels that air a couple favourite shows – but that is another entry…at a later date…) so I had a moment of Well…Shit…but yet…when I voiced my situation to one of my Scots Boys (Hello you!), he gave me my plan B…

See I didn’t have a Plan B…because I took it for granted that she would have the same cable package I have currently or had in the past.

I have found that very few people actually have a Plan B until they are standing in the ruins of their Plan A. They have taken for granted that their Plan A will work out 100% of the time. More often than not…they only work out about 50% of the time. The other 50% it’s usually Plan B…although sometimes in that 50%…it may even be a Plan C, D or E.

 And that is ok…

Technology…

Standard

Technology is suppose to make our lives easier…more convenient…streamlined…

That is not the case tonight…

Tonight I am doing battle not only with my desktop pc (yes I still have one of those…) but with a laptop as well

What am I doing that is requiring this battle…?

I am trying to download some photos off my smart phone…

And I am trying really hard not to swear at these inanimate objects…

I also have a terabyte drive…with about 738 GB of free space right now…

Yet I keep getting the error message of Not Enough Disk Space on the drive when I try and transfer….ONE picture over to the terabyte drive…a picture that is not even 2 MB large…while working on the desktop pc…so I fire up the laptop…which routinely gets hung up on a request…which usually results in my having to reboot it at least twice…each time I put a request in for it to do something…and God help my ass if I ask it to do more than one thing at a time…

So far…25 seconds remaining has lasted a minute and a half…and we are on to reboot #3…all to transfer photos…

So for those who are waging a war with their personal computers…

I feel your pain…

It makes me realize just how reliant we are on technology…and just how much it reaffirms my conscious decision to ‘UNPLUG’ at least one day a week…a lot of people because of what they do have a hard time doing that; but I encourage you…if not one day a week then perhaps one day a month to ‘UNPLUG’ your ass from everything and get back to the ‘Analogue’ way of life…

Lollygag around the kitchen table with a cuppa and the newspaper or a good book…or even just sit and day dream…

Unplug…Unplug…Unplug…

It does a body good…(not to mention your mind…and your soul).

When Your Back Is Against The Wall…

And Push comes to Shove…

This is when you do what needs to be done…

Not what you want to do…but what you have to do…

Sometimes it means you humble yourself to the person you like the least; or doing things you never thought you would do just to survive.

Never a pleasant position to be in…

Everyone is Vulnerable…

Everyone is Vulnerable…

I have a large confession to make…was going to half-ass this topic and rolled it into one blog with 3 other topics. But I got what I call a ‘Noggin’ Knocking’; that tap in the back of my mind and the whisper of… “You never take the easy route…don’t start taking the easy route now…this is too important.”

So here I am not taking the easy route…

Being vulnerable sucks donkey whang…

No one likes being vulnerable…NO ONE.

People like to be in control of their situation at all times…myself included. Since becoming a Christian I have been lead to put my trust in God and my future in His Hands. When things are going good; it’s easy to do; when things aren’t so good…this is not so easy to do; but I am still doing it.

** Author’s Note: Yes I am a Christian…this blog however is not designed to be preachy; nor is it made to convert the masses. If you want to have a respectful conversation about it; great…if you want to have an antagonistic debate so you can take the piss…you can sod off.

Where was I? Or yes…being vulnerable sucks donkey whang…

Everyone has experienced vulnerability at some point in their lives; be it financial; social; mental; emotional; physical; and spiritual.

Financial Vulnerability leads people to get involved in Get Rich Quick Schemes (one of my uncles was notorious for these things…and cousin too; the cousin ended up doing jail time.)

Mental Vulnerability happens to everyone; even if there is no mental illness involved; it can come down to the relationships we have with one another. It seems to go hand in hand with the Emotional Vulnerability; and Social Vulnerability. All three seem to feed off of one another like a vicious cycle. These 3 come in many…many forms.

Physical Vulnerability occurs to those who suffer from a physical ailment or disability.

Spiritual Vulnerability can occur when you ‘do life’ with people who claim to believe what you believe and offer to teach you in the ways of the faith when in fact they have ulterior motives (I know of what I speak…I ended up ‘doing life’ with a Christian man…who really was up to no good and just recently left the church I was attending because they were hypocritical in nature).

There are a lot of charlatans out there who prey on the vulnerable; regardless of where their vulnerability lies.

Being vulnerable means not being in control of a certain aspect of life…or does it?

Perhaps the real control lies in the acknowledgement and embracing of your vulnerability?

Owning Your Shit…

Standard

Owning Your Shit…

Taking responsibility for your actions…

Acknowledging when and where you screwed up…

This is imperative in life…

Everyone screws the pooch…EVERYONE…no one has corned the market in this; although there are a few people who try.

The trick is owning up to it; acknowledging when you have completely shit the bed on something; then taking the responsibility to correct the error; be it to redo something (at your cost); replacing something…or groveling. However it needs to happen…you need to make it happen.
