Amazing What You Learn…

Standard

When you step out of the usual…

I have learned that people are completely ridiculous. That the general public seem to think they can treat people who serve others like pieces of trash is quite frankly appalling. That businesses do actually have to post signs saying verbal abuse of staff is not tolerated because the general public don’t think twice about verbally abusing the person they are facing – who incidentally had nothing to do with the situation the client is currently in they were just the unfortunate soul who was working at the front desk.

I learned exactly what I bring to the ‘Table’ as it were when it comes to getting the job done – regardless of what people say, I have the skills still…and no amount of time is going to change that; nor will a piece of paper enhance that – and that getting the job done without fan fair gets noticed.

I have learned that contract work isn’t as bad as I once thought and that full-time at one company for an extended period of time isn’t as appealing as it’s made out to be.

I have learned that even if the ‘Captain’ of the ‘Ship’ is a complete twit; the ‘Crew’ can still get the job done if enough of the ‘Crew’ knows what they are doing.

I have learned that when you change your ‘course’ those around you will sometimes try and change you back to your old heading…but stay the ‘new course’ for it may be the adventure of a life time.

So you want to be immortal?

Standard

Former friend said he wanted to be immortal…to establish a legacy…

my response: stop playing video games, get off the couch and get out there.

his response (after humiliating me on social media): you’re being condescending and I demand an apology…

my response: Unfriend on FB…

Spending a week on the couch playing World Of WarCraft because you are unemployed and are content to live off benefits until you can’t isn’t downtime…it’s laziness. You want to be immortal….it’s called repping 24/7.

It’s called working everyday to be better than the day before, and finding new ways to improve tomorrow. Even if it’s just reading an article on your favourite subject or seeing a documentary on something you are passionate about. DO SOMETHING EVERYDAY to better yourself…EVERYDAY.

Legacy takes work…Immortality even more so…

Both require you to be repping 24/7.

Even for us rank amateurs…

Loss of Confidence…

Standard

And trying to find it again…

You can lose your confidence in all sorts of ways.

An Event…

A Person…(or people)…

An event can undermine your confidence in how you do and/or handle things.

A person (or people)…can undermine your confidence in EVERYTHING.

It’s easy to lose your confidence…

Getting it back…that’s harder.

You second guess yourself, you shy away from putting yourself out there, your mind only playing the negative soundtrack that has been built inside your head. You fear reaching out to people in a bid for help because you may think…’Why would they help me?’ Not wanting to bother people who have offered to help on their own time because you don’t want to seem a nuisance (for those of you who have offered to help someone, remember to make good on your offer, if you got sidetracked, that’s on you…not on them. And don’t use the excuse – I’m busy…everyone’s busy, if you are that busy tell the person that you are sorry you are unable to actually help them at this time, but don’t leave them hanging…)

Its hard to get the traction back…

I know…I am currently trying to get my traction back…

I have been hanging on to a dream for the better part of 12 years. That’s a long time to hang on to a dream and not have given up on it. I have had people who have said, its’ not realistic’, ‘You’re wasting your time’, ‘You’re more suited to office work,’ and the list goes on.

** I spent 10 years working in a cubicle in an office, a small cog. I was damn good at my job, and still I was fired. Why? Because of people who felt that a COG should know her place. **

(The better part of a decade since then, I still don’t know my place.)

So now I am at a cross roads…

Do I let the people who are critical keep their foot hold?

Or do I reach out a hand for help and get back on track?

The answer is fairly obvious isn’t it?

In the words of Elvis Presley….

Follow That Dream…
